GRISD Brochure
The community of Glen Rose is located about 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth. The Glen Rose Independent School District is about 202 square miles and is the only public school district in Somervell County. The student population of 1640 students is housed on four campuses.
Because of financial, parental, community support, and professional leadership from GRISD staff, the district has developed quality programs to meet student educational and developmental needs. GRISD’s low student-teacher ratio (11.7 to 1) enables small group instruction and provides many opportunities for individual attention, enhancing the quality of the students’ education.
The district has long been recognized as a leader in the classroom, advancing into the 21st century with quality technology education at all levels of instruction. The Glen Rose Schools have a varied and extensive curriculum that is made up of courses in language arts, mathematics, social studies, science, technology, foreign languages, fine arts, physical education, and career and technology (CTE) courses. The wide variety of courses that are offered includes special, regular, advanced, and gifted/talented courses that help to meet the individual needs of each student. In grades 6-12, we are instituting a 1:1 laptop program using the Macbook Air. In addition, GRISD pays 4 hours per semester for Junior students and 6 hours per semester for Senior Students for dual credit courses. Our goal is to empower each student to graduate with a minimum of 20 hours of college credit and/or technical certification in welding, cosmetology, or CNA.
Teamwork is a key part of the Glen Rose School System, from the superintendent, to the school board, to the community at large. Teachers and staff benefit from a vast support system. Parents, community leaders, and area businesses are all involved in main-taining the quality of the Glen Rose I.S.D. educational system.
