At the February 25, 2013 Board Meeting, Band Director Ray Portillo presented All-State Band Members Ben McPherson, Elisa Wiseman, Eddie Robles, & Jaime Capps to the GRISD Board of Trustees for recognition of qualifying for the ATSSB/TMEA All-State Band

Students were recognized at the January 24, 2013 Board Meeting for being named to Academic All-State Football

Cody Burtscher and Justin Weatherley were recognized by the GRISD Board of Trustees at the January 24, 2013 board meeting for being named to the All-State Football Team.

GRISD Board Members recognized Barry Payne, Kassi Foegelle, Donna Fowler, and Vicki Dunn for successfully incorporating technology learning in their classrooms.

Marissa Graves, Robert Jernigan, Joel Reyes, and Miranda Willis (Consuelo Galindo & Aspen Talavera-not in attendance) were recognized by board members as 21st Century Student Learners at the January 24, 2013 Board Meeting

Board members recognized Taylor Rhodes at the March 26, 2012 meeting for being named to the Class 3-A Academic All-State Basketball by the Texas Girls' Coaches Association and the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. Recipients must be of good moral character, a graduating senior and must have an overall GPA average of 94 or above. Coach Sherre Hill was also recognized for her outstanding leadership.

Class 3-A debate teams Austin Hoodenpyle and Nathan Burroughs (1st place) and Elisabeth Wiseman and Jacqueline Condy (2nd place) qualified to compete at the state CX Debate Meet held this month. Mr. Rotan noted that GRHS entered 4 teams in the District CX Debate Meet held on February 1st. Our teams placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, but only the top two teams advanced to the state meet. Debate Sponsor Marsha Wiseman, who was unable to attend, was also praised for spending many hours helping students develop cases and attending practice competitions.

Board members recognized Principal Debbie Morris, Instructional Facilitator Linda Dunbar, Librarian Jean Otto, Teachers Bridgett Holder, Debbie Cathey, Teresa Toney, Tracie Hansen, and Ginger Whitehead for their leadership and innovative ideas in the production of "It's A Small World". The staff members accepted their certificates by acknowledging that they accepted on behalf of the entire campus. It was truly a team effort between staff and community members who worked together to make the event a success.

During the January 23, 2012 Board Meeting, Band Director Ray Portillo presented Ben McPherson and Elisabeth Wiseman to board members for recognition of their outstanding achievement.

At the January 23, 2012 School Board Meeting High School Seniors Frank Brandenburg, Tyler Linderman, and Ian Valdez were recognized by board members for being named to the Texas High School Coaches Association Academic All-State Football Team. All earned Honorable Mention.
